Compare and Contrast Essay Format

Each paragraph must include:

Topic Sentence
Supporting detail sentences
Conclusion sentence

Paragraph One:

This paragraph should introduce the essay to the reader. Be sure to include:

1. Topic sentence stating the purpose of the essay
2. Supporting sentences which prepare reader for upcoming paragraphs
3. Conclusion sentence

Paragraph Two:

This paragraph should give some background information on yourself and the person you selected.
Ex. names, birthday, why you selected the person, etc.

Paragraph Three:

This paragraph should highlight the similarities between yourself and your person.

Paragraph Four:

This paragraph should highlight the differences between yourself and your person.

Paragraph Five:

This is your conclusion paragraph. Summarize major points of your essay and make concluding statements.
